Is your online shop ready for the European Accessibility Act?

Since 28 June 2025, online shops that sell to consumers in the EU must be usable by people with disabilities. Enter the address of a page of your shop and see the main problems in a few seconds.

Free, no sign-up, no cookies. Pervia downloads the page you enter once and reads its code.

What the law asks

  • The European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, applies from 28 June 2025 to e-commerce services offered to consumers in the EU, including shops based outside the EU.
  • The technical reference is the European standard EN 301 549, which for websites follows WCAG 2.1 at level AA.
  • Microenterprises that provide services are exempt: fewer than 10 people and an annual turnover or balance sheet of no more than €2 million.
  • A shop must also explain how its service meets the accessibility requirements. Each country sets its own checks and fines.

What Pervia checks

Thirteen points a program can verify in the code of a page: language, title, zoom, images, links, buttons, form fields, headings, skip navigation, tab order, embedded frames, sound that starts by itself and accessibility information.

An automatic check finds only part of the problems. Colour contrast, keyboard use and screen readers need a full test of the rendered page.

Questions

Is my shop exempt?

Only if it has fewer than 10 people and an annual turnover or balance sheet of no more than €2 million. If you sell to consumers in the EU and you are larger, the law applies to you, wherever your company is based.

Does a high score mean my shop complies?

No. Pervia checks part of the requirements on one page. A high score means fewer obvious problems. It is not a certification or legal advice.

What happens to the address I enter?

Pervia downloads that page once, checks it and keeps the result for ten minutes so that a second check is instant, then deletes it. No cookies, no tracking. Details in the privacy notice.
